Frequently Asked Questions

Resize images, apply filters, and adjust images on the fly.

How does billing work?

Imgwire uses a subscription model with usage-based limits. Each plan includes a monthly allowance for storage, transformations, and CDN delivery. If you exceed your plan limits, requests may be rate limited or billed based on overage depending on your plan.

What counts as a transformation?

A transformation is counted whenever an image is processed at the edge with parameters like resizing, cropping, or format optimization. Cached requests do not count as new transformations.

Do I get charged for cached images?

No. Requests served from cache are not billed as transformations. You are only billed when an image is processed on a cache miss.

What happens if I exceed my plan limits?

Depending on your plan, requests may be temporarily rate limited or you may be charged for additional usage. You will always be notified before limits are enforced.

How is storage calculated?

Storage is based on the total size of your stored images in imgwire. This includes all uploaded images currently stored in your account.

Is bandwidth (CDN delivery) included?

Yes. Each plan includes a monthly bandwidth allowance for delivering images via the global CDN. Additional usage may incur overage charges depending on your plan.

Do unused limits roll over to the next month?

No. Monthly usage limits reset at the start of each billing cycle and do not roll over.

Can I upgrade or downgrade my plan at any time?

Yes. You can change your plan at any time. Changes are prorated and take effect immediately.

Do you offer a free plan?

No. Imgwire does not offer a free plan. However, startups can request a free trial of the Startup plan. Reach out to startups@imgwire.dev to request a promo code.

What happens if I stop paying?

If your subscription lapses, new uploads and transformations may be disabled. Existing images may continue to be served for a limited time. You will be notified before any service interruptions occur.

How are requests counted?

A request is counted each time an image is fetched through the CDN. Cached responses are significantly cheaper to serve and may not count toward transformation usage depending on your plan.

Can I bring my own domain (e.g. images.myapp.com)?

Certain plans include support for custom domains. This allows you to serve images from your own domain, such as images.yourapp.com, instead of using the default imgwire domain.
